Climate adaptation team wins award for educational materials
The Animal Ag in a Changing Climate team—a collaborative project which includes WSU Puyallup Research Associate Liz Whitefield—was awarded the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Blue Ribbon Award for educational materials. The Educational Aids Blue Ribbon Awards Competition, sponsored by EOPD-208 Extension Committee, promotes excellence in informational materials which contribute to the understanding of agricultural and biological engineering subjects outside of the traditional classroom setting. Horticulturist wins national medal for fruit breeding
PUYALLUP, Wash. – Patrick Moore, Washington State University professor and horticulturist in Puyallup, was awarded the Wilder Medal from the American Pomological Society for his contributions to fruit breeding. The annual award recognizes outstanding service to horticulture with special consideration for the origination and introduction of superior varieties that have been widely planted. Moore, who has been on WSU faculty since 1987, does research on breeding, genetics, disease and disease resistance of raspberries and strawberries.
