Pat Moore

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Patrick Moore, Washington State University professor and horticulturist in Puyallup, was awarded the Wilder Medal from the American Pomological Society for his contributions to fruit breeding. The annual award recognizes outstanding service to horticulture with special consideration for the origination and introduction of superior varieties that have been widely planted. Moore, who has been on WSU faculty since 1987, does research on breeding, genetics, disease and disease resistance of raspberries and strawberries. Fruit varieties his team has developed include: Cascade Harvest, Cascade Gold, Cascade Bounty, Cascade Dawn and Cascade Delight raspberries and Puget Crimson, Schwartze and Puget Reliance strawberries.
