Dr. Patrick Moore (emeritus)

Patrick Moore

Patrick Moore retired in 2020 after 34 years as professor (emeritus) with the WSU Department of Horticulture. His plant breeding focus was on developing new cultivars of strawberry and raspberry for production in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, Pat conducted research on germplasm evaluation for traits of interest to breeders, researchers, producers, and end-users. Pat has a Ph.D. in Forestry from Michigan State University, a M.S. in forestry from the University of Minnesota, and a B.S. in forestry from Oregon State University. In the last 25 years, Pat released or collaborated in the release of 11 cultivars of raspberry and 10 cultivars strawberry. He won the 2015 Wilder Medal from the American Society of Horticultural Science for his lifetime contributions to plant breeding.
