DESCRIPTION:Explore the basics of successful vegetable gardening in the Pacific Northwest—from seed to table. Classes are taught by educators from Pierce County Public Works and Harvest Pierce County (a program of the Pierce Conservation District). Workshops are held in Puyallup the first Tuesday of the month. Other locations can be found on the Edible Gardens Workshop Series website. Learn when to plant and how to care for plants over the winter. \nAugust: NO CLASSES \nSeptember: Composting Basics\nLearn two different methods for turning your yard\, garden and food waste into a valuable soil amendment. \nOctober: Putting the Garden to Bed For the Winter\nWinterize your garden so it is ready for spring with rich and healthy soil that is weed and pest free. \nNovember: Perennial Edible Gardens\nGrow a garden that returns year after year. Learn strategies for self-seeding plants and polycultures (variety).
