DESCRIPTION:The Pierce County Master Gardener Plant Sale is thrilled to be back in full force!\nJoin us April 29th and 30th in Puyallup! Bring your own wagon to haul all your garden goodies! \nHave We Got Tomatoes?\nEvery year we grow over 50 varieties of tomatoes from seed. You will find beefsteak\, roma\, cherry\, grape\, current\, slicing\, paste and heirloom varieties. Almost 3\,500 starts to choose from. We also have a wide variety of other food plants\, including herbs\, rhubarb\, asparagus and blueberries\, strawberries\, and raspberries. \nNeed Vegetable Starts?\nFrom Arugula to zucchini\, we will have vegetable starts for sale. Lettuce\, onions\, kale\, peppers\, you name it\, we probably have it. Also a wide variety of herbs: sage\, oregano\, parsley\, rosemary\, thyme varieties\, tarragon\, chives\, lavender and more. We have both annual and perennial herbs. \nHow About Native Plants?\nNative plants are used to our wet winters and dry summers. If you are thinking of adding some to your yard\, we have plants for both sun or shade. Hummingbirds love red-flowering current bushes. Bees flock to salal and mock orange shrubs. Native bleeding hearts\, false Solomon’s seal and trilliums bring spring to the shade garden. We have plants that like shade instead of sun\, coral bells\, Solomon’s seal and fuchsias. Ferns lover our climate. We have a variety\, including sword ferns\, autumn ferns\, lady ferns\, deer ferns\, Japanese painted ferns and more. We have a hostas from tiny miniatures to giant size varieties. \nWe Have Shade Lovers too!\nWe have a number of groundcovers for most conditions\, dry and sunny\, moist and sunny\, or moist and shady\, even some for dry shade. Hen and chicks\, sedums\, stonecrop\, ajuga\, Irish moss\, ginger and oxalis all work well in the right conditions. \nWe have both annual and perennial flowers for sun\, especially yarrow\, shasta daisies\, cone flower\, day lilies\, irises\, penstemons\, salvias and black-eyed susans. For shade\, we have astilbes\, fuchsias\, impatiens\, and begonias.

Native bleeding hearts\, false Solomon’s seal and trilliums bring spring to the shade garden. We have plants that like shade instead of sun\, coral bells\, Solomon’s seal and fuchsias. Ferns lover our climate. We have a variety\, including sword ferns\, autumn ferns\, lady ferns\, deer ferns\, Japanese painted ferns and more. We have a hostas from tiny miniatures to giant size varieties. \nWe Have Shade Lovers too!\nWe have a number of groundcovers for most conditions\, dry and sunny\, moist and sunny\, or moist and shady\, even some for dry shade. Hen and chicks\, sedums\, stonecrop\, ajuga\, Irish moss\, ginger and oxalis all work well in the right conditions. \nWe have both annual and perennial flowers for sun\, especially yarrow\, shasta daisies\, cone flower\, day lilies\, irises\, penstemons\, salvias and black-eyed susans. For shade\, we have astilbes\, fuchsias\, impatiens\, and begonias.

DESCRIPTION:Who can attend?\nIndividuals in all counties are eligible to attend the training. Students in middle school and high school and adults are welcome. Certification can be obtained for students 13 years of age and above. \nWhy attend?\nAccording to the U.S. Ag Census\, the leading sources of fatal injuries to youth on U.S. farms\, 23% percent involved machinery (includes tractors)\, 19% involved motor vehicles (includes ATVs)\, and 16% were due to drowning. Many of these accidents can be prevented with adequate safety education. \nCertification?\nFederal law requires those driving tractors for hire to be at least 16 years old.
